2023 MidAmerica SXS Championship Series
Round 1
First round of the SxS Championship at MidAmerica Outdoors is finished and the cold weather left with it. This was my first experience with SxS racing and was an experience it was.
Cold winds, kids in cart, adults strapped to turbo charged SxS and great food. Racing was all day Saturday with youth, amateurs, vet, pro and expert races. With the weather as cold as it was racing was the only attraction happening.
I spent my day gathering as much footage as I could with crowd shots, racers getting ready, line-ups, and starting line. I was placed most of the day at the starting line gathering footage of each racer and their SxS lining up for the race. One thing I learned filming at the starting line is they are not waiting on you to get your shot. So I had to be quick, plan out my route, be careful not to trip on any rock or uneven surface, and keep an eye on the guy with the flag. Once he waves the starting flag you need to be clear of everything or get hurt.
With so much ground to cover, I hiked nearly 10miles that day with camera gear on my back, next time I'm bringing my dirt bike to transport me from point A to point B.
Thanks to the MAO Media team for letting me hang out and capture some badass people doing badass things.
